Are you a military veteran or family member looking for a solution for your Depression?

Through the use of a qEEG, in 10 minutes we can see the brainwave imbalances that are causing symptoms such as:

  • Depression

  • Post Traumatic Stress

  • Brain fog

  • Insomnia

  • Anxiety

Our MeRT technology has the unique ability to address these brainwave imbalances.

OUR MeRT PLATFORM

What is MeRT?

Our Technology, MeRT (Magnetic eResonance Therapy), identifies & nurtures where the brain has difficulty communicating.

MeRT is a more sophisticated and tailored form of TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) that is both gentle and drug-free. It has been proven to show some amazing results.
Read more about MeRT advantages here.

TRICARE is an insurance plan issued by the United States Defense Health Agency offered to active military personnel, veterans, and their families. The equipment used in TMS is FDA-cleared to treat Depression, and in 2016, TriCare approved coverage for TMS therapy for Depression.

  • Non-invasive

  • Drug-free

  • FDA approved

"I was looking for anything that could prepare me for retirement and returning to life in the civilian sector. MeRT has been a total game changer for me. My mood swings and anxiety are non existent, my cognitive capacity has come back...I don't think there's another medication that's doing that without blunting you to life."

HOW IT WORKS

Our MeRT Process

It all begins with a quick assessment of your brainwave pattern behavior. Then personalized neuromodulation treatments are delivered through gentle magnetic stimulation using an FDA cleared TMS device.

STEP 1

qEEG Brainwave Recording

We conduct an eyes-closed 10 minute quantitative electroencephalogram (q-EEG) and an electrocardiogram (EKG) tests that measure brain wave frequencies, heart rate and brain-heart coherence. Our scientific and clinical teams analyze the results to better understand your brain health.

STEP 2

Clinician Consultation

We use a patented approach with your neurophysiological data to develop a customized treatment plan that aims to encourage healthy brain communication.

All MeRT treatment parameters are approved by a licensed neurosurgeon or physician.

STEP 3

MeRT Treatment

While sitting comfortably, a trained technician will position the magnetic coil on your head. This coil will deliver your individualized treatment protocol to the targeted region of the brain.

The coil applies gentle stimulation for 6-8 seconds per minute.

A typical appointment is 45 minutes, 30 minutes of which involve stimulation.

Julie Kim, M.D., FACP

A board-certified internist with over two decades of medical experience, Dr. Julie Kim is the Medical Director of the Brain Treatment Center in San Diego and our Cardiff Braincare Performance Center. She also serves as Medical Director for the original Flagship Brain Treatment Center in Newport Beach.

Over the past decade, Dr. Kim has treated over 5,000 patients with MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy). In fact, she was one of the first doctors to work with MeRT technology and is the most experienced MeRT clinician in the world. Because of her expertise and experience, Dr. Kim co-created the initial safety protocols and physician training programs and has worked with Wave Neuroscience to train and support other physicians. In the past four years alone, she has trained over 100 physicians to interpret qEEG results and use the full MeRT protocols.

Since joining the Brain Treatment Center in 2013, Dr. Kim has pioneered MeRT treatment for a wide variety of neurological conditions. These include autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, stroke, depression, and other disorders. She is dedicated to providing a drug-free, non-invasive treatment that encourages brain development and optimizes brain function.

And she has seen MeRT therapy change the lives of not only her patients but also the community surrounding each patient. That’s why she’s so passionate about bringing this technology to as many people as possible.

When she’s not working with patients or training others in MeRT technology, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and three school-aged children. She is a proud little league and flag football mom, stage mom, and dance mom. She also serves with her daughter in the National Charity League and supports OC Ukraine, a program co-founded by her teenage son to help Ukrainian refugee families.
